ANKARA – Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and a prominent figure in the nationalist/idealist (Ülkücü) movement, has sought permission from his party members to visit the imprisoned leader of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party), Abdullah Öcalan, who is incarcerated on İmralı Island.
A Standing Ovation for the Proposed Visit
During his party group meeting, Bahçeli posed the direct question to his constituents: "Do you permit me to go to İmralı?"
The response from the Ülkücü members was overwhelming. The hall erupted in applause for several minutes, signaling strong and decisive support for their leader's proposed visit.
